YOU SEEM TO BE LIVING THE DREAM LIFE TELL US HOW YOUR LIFE HAS CHANGED OVER THE YEARS IN TERMS OF MONEY AND TIME, AND HOW YOUR CHOICES HAVE CHANGED.
AVP: Choices have changed of course, but more importantly my life has changed 180 degrees because of the business. I grew up in a middle-class, government family in the 80RS And 90RS. I have seen my father go to work every day and come back home in the evening, and we were living pay check to pay check. Life, in that sense has definitely turned around for me and my family, especially in the last 5 years. It’s strange how money is the last problem or challenge now in the ability to do anything. It gives you emotional freedom and financial freedom, which is really a big deal. The significance of money has been replaced with other parameters- heart and choices – be it in travel or buying stuff.
For instance, my parents who are in their seventies, recently travelled to Amritsar and Jammu/Srinagar by them selves, something they are not used to doing. I simply booked everything through a travel agent and I have no idea what it cost! I felt like I was able to take care of everything at every juncture, be it taxis, air tickets, hotel rooms, like I was there! Travelling the globe is not a big deal either. But having a choice only comes with having money.
WAS THE BOY FROM JABALPUR, YOUR JUNIOR SELF, THIS AMBITIOUS? WAS HE THIS EXTRAORDINARY?
Frankly, I don’t even remember. when it comes to studies and career, I was hardly serious. I never asked the question ‘why’. Till my graduation, I couldn’t answer the question ‘what next’. It was a step by step process. I did what everyone did. Further studies, getting a job, trying to be good at it, getting a promotion, you know the drill. But I never dreamt of anything, it was only about the next achievement. I never dreamt I would have what I have today.
Day 1, actually! After working for 9 years, I was desperately looking for something new when I found QNET. It was exactly what I wanted. My job couldn’t have taken me where I wanted to go actually I didn’t even know I wanted this lavish lifestyle, I was just clear that I didn’t want a dreadful existence of going to work and coming back home. I was a good employee but that kind of work is a vicious circle. Of course, I had no idea what to do because doing anything requires a lot of money.
