HINGOLGADH NATURE EDUCATION

About the sanctuary;- The Hingolgadh nature Education sanctuary is a small but significant wildlife sanctuary located near Rajkot city. It is surrounded by arid land on all sides, making it a preferred habitat for a variety of animals, including chinkara, blue bull, and many resident and migratory bird species. This santuary was declared a reserved forest area in 1980, covering an area of 654 square kilometers.

It is a verdant oasis amidst the otherwise dry and barren landscape, with a green cover that appears during the mansoon season. The sanctuary’s educational and recreational value is high, making it a popular destination for visitors. Managed by the Gujarat Ecological Education and Research (GEER) Foundation, the sanctuary hosts around 50-100 Nature Education Camps every year during the monsoon season.

These camps are primarily designed for school children to educate them about the importance of wildlife conservation and the ecosystem. The sanctuary also offers several opportunities for nature walks and trekking, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature.
